Wings and Spells

Hey Everyone!

So I just finished reading two young adult book by the name of Wings and Spells. The author, Aprilynn Pike, has done an amazing job with these books. There will be four books in this series and I can't wait till the next book comes out.

So this story is about a girl named Laurel. While growing up, Laurel always felt different from everyone around her. Once she gets into high school, the differences become more salient. She can't stand being inside classrooms for too long because she has this need to be in sunlight. Also, her diet is unusual in the sense that she only eats fruit, lettuce and sprite. One day she notices a bump on her back. It gets bigger and bigger over the next few days until one morning she feels a flower petal sprouting out of the bump. The petal becomes bigger until it starts to resemble wings. Laurel hides her petal from everyone around her except her good friends David. He is very supportive and eventually they start dating. One day she goes back to the house she used to live in. While walking through the forest, she meets this strange guy named Tamani. It just so happens, that Tamani knows what Laurel really is: a faerie. Laurel tries to learn everything about the Faerie world through Tamani. Her and Tamani start to get closer and a love triangle starts to form. Both David and Tamani have to help her in the end when her dad is in danger from a group of trolls. The ending is full of action.

Spells picks up where Wings left off. The love triangle between David and Tamani gets stronger. Towards the end of the book, Laurel has to decide between the two of them, but it is so much more than just choosing between two guys. She has to choose between living in the faerie world or living only in the human world. She finds that she can't handle straddling the line between both worlds anymore. This book is truly entertaining to read. While David is very sweet and personable, Tamani is mysterious, handsome, and completely devoted to Laurel. I, personally, am a Team Tamani fan :) The ending of Spells is a huge cliff hanger! It makes you want the next book immediately!

These books are definitely worth your time and I totally think you all should read them :) 5/5 stars.

First Fanfic review :D

Sooo first things first... I would like to review some pieces of fanfiction when I get the chance. I hope you find this helpful as I am an honest critic and I only read stories with excellent writing. So without further adieu the first fanfic is.....

The Blessing and the Curse by The Black Arrow.

SO this fanfiction has totally taken me by surprise. This is The Black Arrow's first story and Its a hell of a lot better than I thought it would be from the summary. I started reading it yesterday and I am already half way through. In this story, Edward and Bella have been friends since they were born. Esme brings Bella into the Cullen family after Renee dies. From the time they were young, Edward had a certain influence over Bella. While Bella had always pined for Edward, he was always with other girls, keeping Bella as a backup when he was lonely. While he may not have been in a romantic relationship with Bella, he was still insanely possessive over her. He never let her have any crushes and no boys were allowed to even look at her without Edward basically beating them to a pulp. He always claimed the "Bella was his."

Edward also has a "talent." He can read Bella's mind when he has physical contact with her. This adds a whole new dimension to the story because Bella can not hide many of her thoughts and feelings from the one person who consumes her mind. Six years later, Bella is engaged to Mike Newton and has moved on with her life (So she thinks). She is coming to see the Cullen's due to Esme's decline in health. Edward notices in those six years of not seeing each other that Bella may mean more to him than just a friend. Bella's interactions with Edward make the story very interesting as she has grown up a lot and is somewhat stronger than she was before. The Black Arrow's Edward is portrayed as seriously disturbed, while incredibly H-O-T. I think this is one of the sexier Edwards I have ever read. At one point in the story, Bella calls Darkward "creepy hot," which cracked me up because it is bluntly true. The UST is off the charts as Bella tries to resist Edward's advances. There has not been any hot and heavy lemons thus far, but The Dark Arrow knows how to drive her readers crazy with little touches, glances and a few hot kisses.

Like I said before, this story has started off very well. So far I give it 4/5 hearts. Let's hope creepy-hot Edward continues to captivate me. :)



I will try to review Fanfics and other books when I have the time. I love reading reviews from other readers in the fandom because it helps me figure out which story to read next. Hopefully I can help some other readers out there who are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of stories in our fandom. I know because I've been there!!



One last note, I went to the beach yesterday. Unfortunately, I got super sunburnt. I feel like I'm on fire right now!! BUT, it was a beautiful day so here is a picture I took when I was leaving :)

shopping, shopping, shopping....

Hey everyone! 

So I went shopping today, which is a very rare occurrence for me. Its not that I don't like to shop, its just that one pair of cute shoes costs an arm and a leg! Well I ended up buying a lot of stuff, which I'm very happy about. You just have to know where to shop. Forever 21 is a great place to go. Everything there is really cute and it doesn't cost very much at all. I have never really been a girl who is all about the brand names and stuff. I think its absolutely ridiculous to buy a pair of True Religion jeans for $200. Why not spend that money on useful things?? Just sayin. 

Today I didn't have class all day. I have a 3 hour class tonight form 6:30 to 9:30.  Its been weird not having anything to do. I could have been studying I guess lol. buuuttt I didn't :) Hope I don't fail any classes. LOL

Ok so the most embarrassing thing happened to me today! I went to my chem lab this morning knowing that my classroom number was 115. Turns out I'm blind or something because I was in lab 105 for half the time. When the TA finally took role, my name wasn't on the list, so she told me to go and talk with the main coordinator for all the labs and see what was going on. So I walk down the hall to the head guys office and knock on the door. Of course, he wasn't there so I waited for like 10 minutes. I look to my right because I see another class going on and there was this really cute guy in there. When I walk a little closer to the door, I see the numbers 115........ Seriously?? I felt so dumb! 

So I walk into this lab that I was supposed to be in from the start and take the closest seat to the door. I tried to be as quiet as possible, but the TA saw me. He stopped talking and stared at me like "why the fuck are you just coming in now that class is pretty much over." Then of course everyone else stops and turns around to look at the fool who came in 45 min late. 

My face felt like it was completely on fire. Finally the TA turns around and completes everything he was saying before. After everyone left, I went up to him to apologize and he gave me this huge lecture on the importance of being on time and blah blah blah. All I could do was nod my head and say "I know, Im Sorry" like a jerk. Grrr. 

So the plan for next weeks class....  1. be the first person there.  2. know my shit inside and out so I can answer questions and be the first one done with the lab. and finally 4. Talk to the hot guy in class :) 

Hopefully it works and my TA wont be on my back the whole time. lol 

Anyways, just wanted to get that off my chest. I feel better already :)

Hello again,

So currently I am at my school's library, waiting for my next class to start. My chemistry professor just scared the living shit out of me by telling whole class that the previous chem class we all took was a cake walk compared to this class we are about to take. Most of us got C's in the previous one! Shit. I think this is going to be a rough quarter... On a brighter note, while my chem professor may be a dick, he is super hot! :D In a very nerdy way, of course, but hot none the less. I will certainly be attending office hours a hell of a lot more this quarter! hahaha

Anyways, I got a surprise from my roomie last night! She gave me a late Xmas present and it was the 2 CDs from GLEE!!! Ahh! It totally made my day, night, world! 

Last but definitely not least, I wanted to rec an amazing book I just finished. Its called Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Simply amazing if you are into YA books. Its starts with a boy who is completely and utterly board with the unchanging town in south carolina. When a new girl comes into town he is captivated by her, and soon he comes to realize that this is the girl he has been dreaming about for weeks. She is not an ordinary girl by any means and nothing is the same after her arrival.

Its so great!! Go read it if you get a chance.

Hey guys, 
Happy New Years! The sad part about this year is I already have to go back to school!! I just drove back to my apartment last night. I got back at 3am, so Im fucking tired right now. However, before making the venture home, I did see Avatar in IMAX 3D. It was GREAT! I think it is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. So go see it :)

So tomorrow my classes start. Im taking two psychology classes and organic chemistry, complete with 2 four hour labs. Sweet Jeebus, just kill me now. lol Anyways, I just wanted to update before going to bed. I thought, since its now a new year, that I should try to write as often as possible. I guess its a new years resolution of sorts.
